The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) has the public responsibility for managing one of the largest and the most successful stadiums in Australia and the world – the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The MCG is more than just a stadium, it’s an Australian icon and a meeting place for generations past, present and future. The MCG is host to more than 70 major events and attracts over four million visitors annually.

 

 

The MCC’s Venue & Event Services department is responsible for the planning and delivery of all major events staged at the MCG, and employs approximately 1000 event staff. Ticketing, accreditation and access control services are critical to efficient and effective event delivery and the ultimate success of events at the MCG. Ticketing Services is responsible for liaising with venue hirers to establish and maintain appropriate ticketing requirements and providing a responsive and high quality service to all its external and internal customers.

 

 

A great job opportunity has arisen for an experienced Ticketing Manager in the Venue & Event Services department to lead the Ticketing Services team.

 

The Ticketing & Accreditation Manager is responsible for the management of the ticketing supplier contract (including performance review to KPIs), the implementation of innovative and industry best practice, providing the timely and accurate management of all aspects of ticketing for the venue and acting as the key point of contact for the ticketing supplier. They also oversee event day accreditation. 

 

 

The role is also responsible for (however not limited to):

 

  • Leading, managing, mentoring and developing a ticketing team
  • Preparing all events for on sale in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Liaising and maintaining strong relations with external partners (codes, clubs, promoters and venue hirers), stakeholders and internal departments to manage all ticketing sales, commercial, technical and operational relationships for MCG events
  • Enhancing existing ticketing systems, processes and procedures to MCG events and implementing innovative and industry best practice,
  • Managing the ticketing procedures and systems in collaboration with MCC and the ticketing provider’s IT departments, as well as maintain stadium-seating capacity.

 

It is essential the successful applicant will be an exceptionally organised ticketing professional with demonstrated experience with managing teams in a sports and entertainment ticketing environment for major events. They will also have an eye for detail, a talent for problem solving, a strong commitment to providing superior customer service that works well under pressure and is committed to working in a team environment.

 

In addition you will need to have:

 

  • Considerable experience in leadership managerial ticketing role(s)
  • Experience working within a major event or premium sporting organisation which offered a wide range of ticket and membership options
  • Proven experience in managing teams and the public in a customer/guest service environment
  • Advanced knowledge of computerised ticket sales (currently using Aspect)
  • Previous management experience in planning for and delivering ticketing sales and operations in the Australian sports marketplace with essential experience with box office procedures
  • Knowledge of event planning and coordination, equipment and practices typical to the sport and entertainment industry
  • Experience working in an organisation that offers membership purchase platforms, as well as a large volume of single tickets
  • Exceptional customer service, time management, planning, process improvement and scheduling skills
  • High level of all round communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in preparing and writing of reports
  • Strong project management disciplines inclusive of the ability to prioritise at peak times, multi task and meet strict deadlines

 

 

 

Please note:  The incumbent will be responsible for the management of the venue on event days when rostered as a Senior Event Manager following successful completion of a training program (average event days per year is between 10-14).  As such, availability to work on weekends and public holidays is essential given the nature of the business.
